Of all the changes marriage had brought me, horsegram/ kollu was one ingredient I got introduced to through my husband. He used to tell me about Kollu Rasam which is famous Kongu recipe which I learnt to make only after marriage. As months passed I heard that horsegram/ kollu is great to add to a weight loss diet. Although I do not believe in diets its a great component to add to your diet. Its great for women's health people having menstrual issues and bloodloss during pregnancy are adviced to have horsegram. I have prepared a simple powder recipe that is great to mix with rice/have it warm with a glass of water.
HORSEGRAM POWDER FOR WEIGHT LOSS RECIPE
Prep time - 25 mins
Makes - 1 cup horsegram powder
Horsegram - 1/2 cup
Asfetedia/ Hing - 3 pinches
Salt - to taste accordingly
1. Dry roast the horsegram in a dry pan for 12-15 mins until well it turns colour and changes to brown and a lovely aroma comes. Make sure not to over roast and burn them.
2. Cool down the roasted horsegram in a plate.
3. Now add batches of the horsegram and powder them along with hing and salt.
4. Once the powder is in room temperature store in an air tight container.
HORSEGRAM DRINK RECIPE
Horsegram powder - 2 tsp
Warm water - 1 cup
Mix the horsegram powder in warm water and serve. You can alternately make buttermilk and add the horsegram powder to it and also have.
