I love recipes using Ragi/ Fingermillet, we all know the benefits of this millet and try to use it on our day to day diet. Off late I have been trying new recipes using ragi that I keep posting in my blog from time to time. One good thing is that R and me we both love Ragi, I tried this Ragi chocolate milkshake sometime back and I have made this around 4-5 times and before I could think of clicking some pictures for the blog this milkshake has vanished ;-) and the big kid at home (husband) never seems to lose his excitement about this drink. I am sure kids and adults will enjoy this equally.
RAGI CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE RECIPE
Recipe ~ Own
Serves ~ 2 tall glasses
Prep time ~ 10 mins
Ingredients
Ragi flour - 2 tbsp
Cocoa powder - 1-2 tbsp (adjust as per your taste)
Milk - 2 cups chilled
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
Method
- In a saucepan add 1/4 cup water add the ragi flour and cocoa powder and using a whisk combine together. Now keep this pan on a stove on medium flame. The mixture will start to thicken using whisk try to break it and keep stirring occasionally, you will find it turning into a thick mass. Switch off the flame, transfer to a plate and let it cool completely
- In a mixer combine milk, vanilla extract, sugar and the cooled ragi-chocolate mass. Blend for a minute until well combined.
- Pour into tall glasses and enjoy
Cooks Wisdom
- You can use up left over ragi koozhu to make this milkshake, but make sure that the ragi mass is cooled before blending it along with milk
- I only used milk to blend the milkshake you can use ice cream or even cream for a rich flavour nevertheless this drink is great just with milk in my opinion
- You can skip vanilla extract incase you are using vanilla ice cream
- If you are diet concious use fat free milk, palm jaggery syrup or sugar free pallets
